Event Content:

Professor Hu Yilin from Tsinghua University's Department of Philosophy of Science and Technology will lead us in reading and discussing "On the Mode of Existence of Technical Objects" (translated into Chinese by Xu Yu) by French philosopher Gilbert Simondon. The discussion will be conducted in Chinese.

Technical objects increasingly fill our lives. Is technology neutral? How do people face these technical objects that are widely viewed as tools rather than living creations? Are engineers who create technical objects merely making tools, or are they influencing our lives on a deeper level? We welcome anyone interested in these questions to join the discussion.
