A series of evenings mini-workshops on functional whole-brain-emulation (WBE) with neuro-behavioral neuroscientist, Catalin Mitelut.
A comprehensive overview of the experimental, computational, and theoretical challenges of functional Whole-Brain-Emulation (WBE) from an agency neuroscience perspective.
The initial presentation on day one will focus on describing structural (aka hi-fi) and functional (aka lo-fi) WBE, along with the existing challenges, timelines, and costs.
Following this, we will hold mini-workshops concentrating on functional WBE, specifically emulating neural function from functional neural recordings obtained from live animals. We will provide three mini-workshops:
Day 1: The theoretical framework of functional WBE
Day 2: The computational framework of functional WBE
Day 3: The experimental framework of functional WBE
Each mini-workshop will commence with a 20-25 minute technical presentation by the workshop organizers, covering topics from each field and bringing attendees up to date on the state-of-the-art and frontier research to be undertaken. The technical presentations will be followed by Q&A sessions, open discussions, and small-group breakouts addressing narrow topics in each field.
Finally, we will conclude with short (2-3 minute) breakout reports to help us frame the agenda for advancing functional WBE.
