It is relatively easy to work towards practical near-term knowledge preservation protocols or imagine science fictional ones indistinguishable from magic 10,000 years in the future.

The hard regime to think about is 100y to 1000y, when both practicality and magic matter, and living institutional protocols can no longer be taken for granted. In this 2.5 hour futures workshop, we will explore this regime. Leaders of the Long Now foundation will join us as guests.
