Today, digital spaces are breaking and more closely resemble a ‘dark forest’ world. Abuses of privacy, attention hacking, surveillance, algorithmic bias, disinformation, excessive water and energy consumption, and the general centralisation of control between big tech and governments are deeply rooted and systemic.
It’s natural, given the state of the world today, that many people feel fearful of being rendered less relevant in the workplace or expect dystopian visions of an AI world. This discourse often assumes a universal set of ethical principles that are situated in the Western context.
Buddhist and Daoist systems, which has existed for over 2000 years and informed growth of many industries and sciences in Chinese and other Asian civilisations, bring a different perspective to tackle the dual challenge of what it means to live sustainably with AI and to help bring a broader understanding of what is meant by ‘intelligence’.
**What if the expanding capabilities of AI prompt us to tap into an inherent wisdom within us to live more intelligently? What would digital spaces aligned with true nature look like?
**
We learn how to turn attention to our own relationship with technology technology and imagine a Light Forest future where we are can live life with alongside technology with more joy and fulfillment.
This interactive workshop will include a:
hand pan soundhealing meditation
a presentation on technology and AI from Daoist and Buddhist Philosophical lenses.
a group discussion and reflection/imagination exercise.
This workshop is hosted by me, Dev Lewis, a researcher, facilitator, and hand pan player. I’m the co-founder of digi-cnx and creator of Light Forest Project.
